Finance for the Supply Professional -- Panelists

Main Presenter:

Marilyn Gettinger, C.P.M. owns and manages the consulting firm, New Directions Consulting Group. Marilyn created the organization in 1993 with the mission to assist companies in making the most of their precious resources. She designs customized training programs and consulting services to support organizations that must change to meet the demands of the 21st century. Her workshops present theory and then relate that theory to meeting the challenges of the organization. Participants are encouraged to take on intra-company projects that address upgrading and reengineering of existing business and manufacturing processes. Marilyn's consulting services offer a team approach to streamlining existing processes using all of the skills and experiences of staff members. She has consulted with organizations to improve purchasing, inventory and supply chain processes.

Marilyn is program coordinator and instructor for the Kean University and New Jersey Institute of Technology's Supply Chain Management certificate programs and chair and instructor for the project management certificate program at Union County College. She is also the coordinator and instructor for the materials management certificate program offered by Union County College. Marilyn teaches C.P.M. certification courses at Union County College as well as on site at company locations. She has been a presenter at ISM's Annual International Conferences in 1998 through 2006 and presented workshops at APICS International Conferences in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Marilyn also presents workshops throughout the country for local and regional ISM affiliates, groups and forums on benchmarking, supply chain management, supplier evaluation, best practices and strategic sourcing. She recently facilitated an online course for ISM, and in 2004 she led an ISM Satellite Seminar on inventory.

Marilyn helps promote other businesses through her involvement at both Bergen Community College and Kean University's Small Business Development Center's small business workshops. She holds a C.P.M., an MBA in business, and is certified in materials management from Bloomfield College.


Panelists:

George Cantrell is a consultant with ADR North America, LLC. He has a successful purchasing and commodities hedging background spanning 30 years at Procter & Gamble. His career has focused on motivating people to embrace change management — aggressively streamlining work processes and identifying ways to improve value that lead to competitive advantage. After 21 years in purchasing, George transitioned to P&G sales, successfully managing a $100 million+ commodity hedging program for restaurant chain customers.

George earned a BS degree in marketing management from the University of Alabama. He then served as a U.S. Navy Supply Officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He has presented at conferences and co-authored several articles in professional publications, including ISM's Inside Supply Management®.


Linda Peyton is director, procurement technology, Global Services for Blyth, Inc., with responsibility for directing and overseeing global procurement of technology. She also oversees the company's procurement technology strategies and implementations of technology, as well as the development of the global sourcing Intranet homepage and the global logistics system and strategy. Linda marketed the system to support changes in processes and technology needed to capture full cost benefits, and developed a comprehensive online sourcing training course targeting internal and external audiences. She is currently creating the Blyth Sourcing University to encompass e-sourcing, including spend management and analytics, project management, negotiations, global supply chain systems, global culture, logistics strategies and SRM.

Linda joined Blyth in 2000. Prior to that she was manager, knowledge development for SE Technologies, where her management responsibilities included identifying the need, developing and implementing the corporate project management office to support the training of foreign-born project managers. During her tenure at SE, she served as senior project manager for several multi-million dollar ERP implementations. Prior to her work at SE Technologies, Linda served as materials manager at several manufacturing facilities including Mountain Medical Equipment, Stuart Entertainment and Maytag where her responsibilities included procurement, sourcing, logistics and supply chain.

Linda attended Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg, IL and Arapahoe College, Littleton, CO where she studied business law. She holds certifications in product training for QAD, Baan Basic and Baan 4.0 Advanced Enterprise Logistics, Baan Supply Chain Solutions and Movex Procurement. She is a member of ISM, APICS and the American Management Association. She has been featured in numerous magazine articles including Purchasing, Supply and Demand Chain Executive and CPO Agenda.


Jon Yarusso, CPA is the director of supply chain for Motor Coach Industries. Jon's current responsibilities include inventory and demand management, operational purchasing, supplier management, customer bid management and key customer account management. Jon previously spent seven years in operational consulting at Gibson & Associates and two years as the director of strategy and organizational development in Pitney Bowes' Supply Chain. During his ten-year career he has led multiple supply chain initiatives including:

  • Centralization of procurement operations across multiple business units and acquisitions
  • Development of policies and procedures for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Development of global metrics, global spend management, and supplier performance process
  • Due diligence and negotiations support of manufacturing outsourcing
  • Warehouse and logistics system design
  • Development/Implementation of e-procurement tools such as Supplier Networks, e-catalogues, auctions, e-RFX, and private trading exchanges
  • Management of direct materials spend in production and aftermarket/retail environment
  • Development of spend category strategies for consulting, IT, HR, travel, marketing and other non-traditional purchases

Jon has published multiple articles and case studies and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Notre Dame. As a consultant Jon was certified to instruct courses in executive communication, negotiations, strategic sourcing and MS Access and has done so at multiple Fortune 1000 clients. Jon graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in accounting and is a CPA in Illinois.
