FORCE MAJEURE
Major (and usually uncontrollable) events that excuse a party, in whole or in part, from the performance of its obligations. For example, a party may be excused from performance in case of a fire, a war, or a strike. The contract provision is referred to as the "Act of God" clause and is included in standard purchase order forms to protect both the purchaser and supplier.
