Job Description Danfoss, a global market leader in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Heating & Water and Motion Controls, has an opening in its Purchasing Department in Arkadelphia, AR for a Buyer. The successful candidate should be experienced, using requisitions, specifications and other requirements. The candidate should possess good judgement, sources, market tests - be able to identify potential suppliers, negotiate commercial terms and conditions, and do required follow up in acquiring goods and services needed by the organization, all within the purchasing procedures and policies established at CC and Danfoss - - essentially, provides the right products at the right price at the right time.

Critical Tasks/Responsibilities

•Accumulates information on items to be procured from requisitions, specifications and other requirements.
•Assists requisitioner in identifying best value parts/suppliers
•Perform market searches to identify potential suppliers
•Negotiates commercial terms to procure required items.
•Manage purchases and suppliers for assigned responsibilities
•Understands value of TCO, not price only, when sourcing.
•Periodically performs market test comparisons on parts and components
•Working with cross-functional team(s), to identify projects with potential cost reduction.
•Helps develop procurement strategies on commodities in terms of financial implications to the organization
•Push for global outsourcing, where appropriate, including in LCCs
•Uses negotiation skills and strategies to reduce total costs
•Document savings
•Through training, and participation, learn the FPP process and tools
•Participate in FPP pilot(s) to get hands on experience in process
•Uses available and appropriate FPP tools, e.g. spend analysis, cost analysis, “should cost”, LPP,
•Helps spread FPP process throughout the organization
•Advises suppliers of Danfoss’ requirements and expectations
•Manage individual supplier relationships.
•Through phone contact, mails, or meetings with suppliers, as needed to understand any issues and identify any potential opportunities.
•Avoid/minimize potential interruptions in supply; anticipate issues
•Monitor commodities and parts to understand specific markets.
•Active involvement in problem resolution, especially commercial issues. Acts as mediator between the suppliers and the Danfoss organization, for which he/she works
•Responsible for preparation and placement of POs and CPOs for assigned commodities, supplies and services
•Amends POs, as needed, for any changes, e.g. rev level, pricing, qty, etc
•Works with, and guides others in the organization on proper and professional purchasing procedure and policy
•Tracks, and reports monthly performance measures (KPIs)
•Helps keep projects within budget and on time.
•Monitors and controls “spend’ and analysis of spend
•Keep appropriate records on suppliers buyer is responsible for
•Negotiates contract and supply agreements, where appropriate, with potential suppliers
•Follows up to make sure all parties fulfil the terms of the agreed to contracts
•Involvement and negotiation of any disputes
•Keeps appropriate records
•Performs other specific purchasing related duties, as assigned
•Learn current purchasing system and supplier base. Understands overall purchasing mission (including TCO), and pressures to improve company EBIT.
•Learn and apply FPP/DPP process
•Aggressive and continued cost reduction
•Outsource components, where appropriate
•Supply base reduction and consolidation
•Push to keep projects within established time and budget
•Support the factory

Basic Minimum Skills Required

Other aspects

•Professional certification or CPM preferred
•MRP experience or familiarity with SAP a plus
•Knowledge of HVAC industry, suppliers, and materials a plus
•Knowledge of commodities and manufacturing processes
•Technical mindset
•Ability to speak foreign language a plus
•History in dealing with/in LCC
•Able to travel both domestically and internationally
•Able to work long hours, at times, into evening/weekend to meet deadlines, other project requirements, and management expectations.

Any other desired requirements to personal or working experience (optional)

•Prefer experience in high volume manufacturing; background in HVAC desirable.
•Experience in buying indirect materials, MRO, Transportation, and other facilities services.
•Experience in buying equipment, machinery, and/or other engineering project requirements.
•Experience in buying a variety of direct items, raw materials, and other components. Has purchased relevant materials, e.g. castings, carbon steel, machining/stamping/other metalworking, electrical, and IM plastics.
•Understands company financials and P&L statements, as well as ability to analyze and decompose product costing - - requires strong accounting knowledge, and ability to build clean sheet estimates.
•International business exposure and global sourcing experience

Minimum requirements to educational background

•Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or relevant technical degree, or equivalent industry experience with commercial compressors.
•Training and knowledge of supply chain principles, and negotiation.

Minimum requirements to working experience

•3 - 5 years of relevant purchasing experience
•Demonstrated inter-personal skills
•Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office and SAP
