Highlights of the August 17-18, 2011 Meeting of the ISM Board of Directors

The 2011 ISM Board of Directors Meeting was held August 17-18, 2011 at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport hotel in Chicago.

At the meeting, the 2011 ISM Board of Directors approved:

  • The ISM budget (including CAPS Research) for the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year as presented by the Finance Committee with total revenue of US$17,163,045.91 and total expenses of US$17,496,411.41 with a negative variance of (US$333,365.50)
  • Two affiliate name changes:
    • NAPM—Austin, Inc. to ISM—Austin, Inc.
    • NAPM—San Diego, Inc. to ISM—San Diego, Inc.
  • Updates to the ISM Policy Manual regarding the composition of the ISM Host Service Committee.
  • Committee appointments for the CAPS Research Board of Trustees, ISM Conference Leadership Committee and the J. Shipman Award Committee.
  • The appointment of Janice L. Davis, vice president and chief procurement officer, Bombardier Aerospace, as a member of the ISM Finance Committee, to fill the term vacated by the resignation of Julia Brown from the committee and the appointment of Ronald D. Schnur, CPSM, vice president, dairy supply and operations, WhiteWave Foods Company, to fill the position of Chair of the Finance Committee that was vacated with Brown's resignation. Brown will continue to serve as a member of the ISM Board of Directors.
  • The recommendation of the ISM Professional Credentials Committee that ISM offer a new credential that tests the same body of knowledge as the CPSM® but does not require a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or international equivalent. Certified in Supply Management™ (CSM™) will be the name of the new credential. Program details will be available soon.
  • A recommendation from the ad hoc Board Committee appointed to lead the search for the next ISM Chief Executive Officer to engage an executive search firm.
  • A US$20 membership dues increase, to take effect September 1, 2012.

The next meeting of the ISM Board of Directors will take place January 12, 2012 in Tempe, Arizona.
