In the past several years, the Institute for Supply Management™ has made a proactive effort to address the issue of diversity throughout the organization. ISM has made a conscious effort to increase the diversity of its membership, staff, and suppliers, and to increase the diversity of media outlets used for marketing and advertising efforts in order to reach a more diverse population. ISM is also addressing diversity efforts in its educational offerings. ISM staff, led by Christina Foster, SPHR, vice president - certification and diversity, have developed a Diversity Plan that was approved by the ISM Board of Directors at the 2002-03 ISM Board of Directors Meeting held on January 16, 2003, at ISM National Headquarters in Tempe, Arizona.
