Join Us for Next Month's Satellite Seminar on Sustainability
The topic of "sustainability" has leapt into corporate boardrooms, raising questions of the company's social responsibility and environmental practice, policies and decision-making. Questions find their way to supply management and challenge us to explore how our companies and our suppliers are dealing with sustainability. In ISM's next satellite seminar, "Supply Management's Role in Sustainability," a panel of supply management professionals will discuss what "sustainability" means to supply managers, including how this concept is being embedded in contract language, supplier audits, regulations, reporting requirements and compliance.
This 4-1/2 hour program airs at 10:00 a.m. Eastern on April 17, 2008. Organizations with C-Band satellite downlink capability are welcome to tune in. You can obtain the satellite coordinates for this program by e-mailing satsems@ism.ws.
If you are unable to downlink the live broadcast, visit the Products area of the ISM Web site for details on how you can order a DVD set of this program. The deadline to order this product is May 16, 2008.
Additional details regarding this satellite seminar are posted on the ISM Web site, click here.

Term of the Day |
 |
Today's ISM Term of the Day is: BASE-STOCK SYSTEM.
Definition: An inventory system in which a replenishment order is issued each time a withdrawal is made, and the order quantity is equal to the amount of the withdrawal. This type of system is also referred to as a par-stock system (bringing stock back to par level).
A different Term of the Day is posted on the ISM Home Page (www.ism.ws) each day — 7 days a week. The Term of the Day is currently taken from the ISM Glossary of Key Supply Management Terms.
ISM members can access the online Members Only Glossary which includes terms from the private, public, and various industry sectors, and from a wide variety of sources. The Glossary can be browsed alphabetically, or searched by keyword.
