Cathy Herr, senior director, global manufacturing procurement for Eli Lilly and Company, leads a team of 70 employees who support Lilly Manufacturing sites around the world by ensuring the right product is available, at the right time in, the right quality, and at the best value. Herr's team is responsible for category management and supplier relationship management for over $3 billion in annual spend.
Since joining Lilly in 1982, she has held numerous positions within the company, including information technology, human resources and distribution. During her 16 years in procurement, Herr has led a variety of projects, including:
Implementation of Strategic Sourcing with A.T. Kearney in 1997
Strategic sourcing of lab supplies & equipment for Lilly Research Labs
Consolidation of lab storerooms and movement to vendor-managed inventory
Reengineering of the Purchase to Pay process, including implementation of e-catalog, web invoicing, and SAP for US operations
Development and global rollout of a Supplier Code of Conduct
Implementation of Supply Chain Risk Management for Manufacturing Operations
Sponsorship of a global facilities management integration and outsourcing project
