ISM-Vermont, Inc. Newsletter

***August Newsletter***
Noreen W. Duross

Summer is rushing by all too quickly! Already your Board of Directors is planning for the 2005-2006 ISM-VT Program. Along with organizing our C.P.M. Study Groups and the NRG plant tour, we met with other BOD members of The Professionals' Collaborative to coordinate events of mutual interest to our members. Our 2005-2006 program will keep our ISM-VT Mission Statement foremost in mind:

ISM-VT MISSION STATEMENT: ISM-VT exists to support its members in their efforts to achieve individual goals for world-class professionalism in purchasing and supply management.

The Professionals' Collaborative (TPC)

We will offer a joint program with APICS, ASTD (American Society for Training and Development), ASQ (American Society for Quality)and PMI (Project Management Institute), featuring two events:

September 2005 - A networking get-together, being organized by PMI, whereby you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and information, not only with members of ISM-VT, but also members of the other four non-profit professional organizations. Details will be provided.

February or March 2006 - A second joint event, yet to be finalized.

Also, all five organizations are coordinating our individual dinner meetings and other events so that they do not occur on the same date. All members of these five non-profit organizations will be invited to all events, paying the discounted membership prices.

Remember, all volunteer offers are encouraged and will help to shape ISM-VT so that the organization meets your individual professional requirements. There is no commitment to the amount of volunteer time or effort, but keep in mind that just a few hours can help.

Please contact me at, advising the amount of time and effort you would be willing to donate on an ongoing basis, or just to volunteer for a few hours now and then. Your ideas and comments are always welcome.

A new BOD, provided on Page 2 of this Newsletter, became effective June 1st. Critical requirement: my term as president of ISM-VT ended effective May 31st. I will still continue as President until August 31st and will be available to help the new president, yet to be named, with the transition. John Gilligan, DNA and Leah Orvis, Director, are coordinating the nomination of the new President. Please contact Leah by e-mail at
or John by phone at (802) 479-9545 if you are interested in nominating yourself or another member to be the new President of ISM-VT. Also vacant is the position of 1st Vice President. The person who assumes this role will be groomed to be President in two years (2007-2008), so this is an important learning opportunity!

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer and hope to see you in September!
