Presidents Message
March 2009

Welcome Spring&and not a moment too soon from my standpoint! It has been a difficult several months at my desk. I suspect many of us are in similar situations with more frequent smaller purchases to keep company commitments light in this uncertain economy or splitting deliveries in efforts to stretch company dollars. Many of us are also juggling added duties due to lay-offs within our ranks. Even if the added work load doesnt have an end in sight, I feel better with the promise of warm sunny days ahead. Just having a few daffodils on my desk has done wonders to lift my spirits to where I can face things head on and with more vigor.

Just this week, I did something that has also lifted me up. I have written to my Congressman Berry, Senator Lincoln & Senator Pryor. While my comments may not have even made it beyond the in-box of the clerks that read their mail, I notified my national representatives of my displeasure over several issues. It was empowering and I highly recommend it!

What a wonderful February meeting. My compliments go out to our friends with APICS. I found the presentation very informative and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I also want to say thanks to everyone who attended. You had to make special effort to work this into your already busy schedule and I hope you too found it rewarding. This was the best attended meeting in some time. It was very nice to see the room full.

We have a change in venue for the March meeting. We will be at UCA in Conway and will hear a presentation from Dr. Doug Voss. I also look forward to meeting the students from Liz Rowans World Class Supply Management class, as well as you!

P.S. I ask for your prayers for me this March 15th. I will be running a relay leg in the Little Rock Marathon. Some in my family are praying for the return of my sanity, while others for a safe & strong run. Whatever you feel appropriate is much appreciated! kl
