for the volunteer leadership
August 2004, Vol. 16, No. 8
In This Issue
This summer, more than 700 affiliate leaders throughout the United States attended one of ISM's Leadership Training Workshops. The two-day conference was held in Las Vegas (July 8-9), Washington, D.C. (July 16-17), and New Orleans (July 28-30). Leadership Training Workshops enable affiliate leadership to learn what it takes to run an affiliate as a nonprofit corporation and the types of tools available. Attendees also have the opportunity to share experiences with volunteers from other affiliates.
The Affiliate Support Council was established for three primary reasons: (1) to ensure that the affiliate perspective is heard, (2) to provide opportunities for affiliate leaders to address issues important to affiliates, and (3) to strengthen the link between affiliates and the national organization. This and upcoming issues of NewsLine will feature bios of Affiliate Support Council members so that you will know who they are.
