Last Call for 2011 Shipman Award Nominations

Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) annually honors an outstanding individual in the profession with the J. Shipman Gold Medal Award.

Johnson Shipman was a pioneer member of the New York affiliate of the National Association of Purchasing Agents, well-known for giving liberally of his time and counsel. The award was established in 1931 to commemorate the contributions of Shipman, a man known for his vision, intellect and influence on important issues. The award is presented to those individuals whose modest, unselfish, sincere and persistent efforts have aided the advancement of the supply management field. Those chosen for the award have also assisted and guided members of the supply management profession in their endeavors.

The 2011 J. Shipman Gold Medal Award Winner will be honored at an awards luncheon on Tuesday, May, 17, 2011 at ISM's 96th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit in Orlando, Florida.

January 14 ISM Customer Service e-mails instructions to the affiliate leadership. Review your roster and make appropriate additions and deletions.
February 14 All changes/modifications must be completed online.
March 4 ISM e-mails affiliate leadership the final Semi Annual Dues Invoice reflecting the updates you submitted.

March 2011 Semiannual Dues Billing Time Line

ISM Customer Service will send an e-mail instructing you how to pull a current list of your regular members on record with ISM. The ISM Membership Dues Roster must be updated online by February 14, 2011. The rosters will be processed, and invoices will be e-mailed to the affiliate mail designate, affiliate treasurer and the affiliate executive secretary that ISM has on file.

This is a change in process from prior semiannual dues billings. All communications will be by e-mail and your roster will be available online in a "live" document. You will have current information to reconcile against, making dues billing updates accurate and timely.

Please carefully update the ISM Membership Dues Roster so the resulting invoice is accurate. Once the invoice is generated, the amount cannot be adjusted.

ISM's next satellite seminar is scheduled for February 10, 2011 on the topic, "Understanding and Embedding Risk Management Concepts into Supply Practices." Richard Rich, C.P.M., senior risk management administrator at Seminole Electric; will lead the panel in a discussion of practical strategies and tools to recognize, manage and eliminate possible risks. The program airs 10 a.m. Eastern time.

To register your affiliate site for this program, go to the satellite seminar area of the ISM website. From the ISM Home Page, click on Education — Seminars, Conferences, select Seminars, then select Satellite Seminars. The Satellite Seminar Downlink Site Registration Form is the second bullet on this page.

Accumulate CEHs by Attending ISM Satellite Seminars!

Are you looking for a way to pick up some additional Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) for your recertification? Attend an ISM satellite seminar! Each of these four-hour broadcasts provides four CEHs. And if you miss the live broadcast, affiliates can borrow DVDs from past satellite broadcasts from the Affiliate Loan Library, show them as an affiliate event, and award the CEHs!

If you choose to show DVDs from the Affiliate Loan Library, the online request form is available in the Members Only area of the ISM website. From the ISM Home Page, click on Members Only, choose Affiliate Resources from the Members Only menu, then click on Affiliate Management Tools. The Affiliate Video Loan Library Request Form is the second bullet from the bottom of the list.

For affiliates that downlink the live broadcast, the Achievement Award Form is sent to downlink site coordinators along with the program materials prior to each broadcast. If your affiliate is showing the DVD for a previous program, you can obtain a copy of a generic Achievement Award form on the ISM website. From the ISM Home Page, click on Members Only, Affiliate Resources, Affiliate Management Tools, then click on Continuing Education Hours (CEHs).

ISM Hospitality Suite Policy

Hospitality suites are to have a business emphasis as opposed to social in order to stay within the educational purpose of the International Supply Management Conference of the Institute for Supply Management™. Hours of operation should not conflict with other Conference activities.

ISM has no desire to discourage informal get-togethers during periods of time when there are no scheduled Conference events. While it may be difficult to discern the exact difference between business and socially oriented suites, or informal get-togethers, it is intended that such activities not leave the association open to criticism. Ethical considerations are and remain of prime concern to the Institute for Supply Management™.
