|February Manufacturing ISM Report On Business®: PMI at 56.5%
Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in February for the seventh consecutive month, and the overall economy grew for the 10th consecutive month, say the nation's supply executives in the latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business®.
The report was issued today by Norbert J. Ore, CPSM, C.P.M., chair of the Institute for Supply Management™ Manufacturing Business Survey Committee. "The manufacturing sector grew for the seventh consecutive month during February. While new orders and production were not as strong as they were in January, they still show significant month-over-month growth. Additionally, the Employment Index is very encouraging, as it is up 2.8 percentage points for the month to 56.1 percent. This is the third consecutive month of growth in the Employment Index. With these levels of activity, manufacturers are seemingly willing to hire where they have orders to support higher employment."

|ISM's Solution to Improving Your Talent Management Strategy — The 2010 Conference Career Center
Take part in this year's Conference Career Center during the 95th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit, April 25-28, 2010 in San Diego.
Employers: How Does It Work?
ISM offers all Conference participants the opportunity to submit their résumés for consideration. Participating employers will have the opportunity to review submitted résumés and meet with top candidates during the Conference.
The ISM Conference hosts more than 2,000 supply management professionals each year. Global attendees are from both the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors:
- 90 percent of attendees have three or more years of experience in the supply profession.
- 25 percent of attendees have at least one professional credential.
- 50 percent of attendees have a bachelor's degree and/or some graduate school experience.
- 29 percent of ISM members have a graduate degree.
What You Receive as a Participating Employer
- Review résumés in a special online database designated for the event prior to and after the Conference.

Today's ISM Term of the Day is: RECORDS.
Definition: Means of information storage. Their purposes are to provide: (1) actionable information to enable better decisions; (2) a knowledge base for sharing and transferring information; and (3) complete documentation for legal and audit purposes. Purchasing is responsible for maintaining records for bills of sale, titles, warranties and other purchase-related documents.
A different Term of the Day is posted on the ISM Home Page (www.ism.ws) each day — seven days a week. The Term of the Day is taken from the ISM Glossary of Key Supply Management Terms.
ISM members can access the online Members Only Glossary which includes terms from the private, public, and various industry sectors, and from a wide variety of sources. The Glossary can be browsed alphabetically, or searched by keyword.
