Purchasing professionals of the 21st century are being encouraged by organizational leaders to move from tactical to strategic thinkers. Strategic thinking calls for: Seeing the big picture, Knowing the mission, objectives, and goals of the organization, Focusing on the requirements of the internal and external customers, Understanding the ever-changing challenges of the organization in its effort to stay competitive in a global environment, Adapting quickly to meet those constantly changing challenges, Leveraging all resources to hit the financial targets of the organization.
