Managing the various supply chains of an organization well is now the core focus of the successful business and/or service institution. This new business model calls for several concurrent initiatives. These include collaboration, connectivity, visibility, scalability, supplier management, risk identifiction and management, synchronization, trade-off decision making, inventory management, etc. The supply professional must understand these supply chain mangement principles and be able to participate in designing and fitting the puzzle pieces together for the successful supply chain management process in their organizations.
