Plenty — especially when it comes to the National Association of Purchasing Management. At issue is the association’s proposed name change. Founded in 1915 as the National Association of Purchasing Agents (N.A.P.A.), the association experienced its first name change nearly 50 years later when members began to recognize changes occurring in the profession. In 1968, the N.A.P.A. changed its name to the National Association of Purchasing Management. The new name more accurately reflected the responsibilities and contributions of purchasing and supply professionals.
