  As NAPM’s new senior associate, media relations, my job is not only to publicly promote NAPM and the supply management field, but also to keep you, the affiliate leadership, up-to-date on new services, seminars, programs, and products. As I am sure you are aware, one terrific member benefit is the NAPM Web site (www.napm.org). The NAPM site offers firsthand information relating to certification, education, research, and technology, and is also a great media resource. By selecting the About NAPM link and then selecting Press Releases, you will find the most recent press releases issued by NAPM.

  Lifetime Certification or Lifetime accreditation means recertifying or reaccrediting for the last time. Lifetime applicants must have at least 18 years of full-time professional purchasing and supply management experience (for the A.P.P., purchasing and supply management experience can be a secondary component of the applicant’s job).

  You try to tell nonmember colleagues about the benefits of NAPM membership, but hearing about it just isn’t the same as experiencing it. No matter how wonderful you make it sound, they still may be reluctant to pay membership dues before they really know exactly what they are paying for. So how do you demonstrate the value of NAPM membership risk-free to new members? Offer them a temporary trial membership!

• Reminders
  
  Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time. As a result, while most of the United States will set their clocks back one hour on the last Sunday of October, NAPM headquarters will remain on Mountain Standard Time, as it does year-round. NAPM office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MST. Those of you in the Midwestern and Eastern United States will be one to two hours ahead of Arizona, while those of you on the West Coast will be one hour behind.
