As the association draws closer to its official name change target date of January 1, 2002, preparations are in full swing to ensure that the transition proceeds smoothly and efficiently. To help affiliates, volunteers, and members keep up-to-date on the association’s progress, a timeline has been developed to outline important milestones.
Mark Twain once said, "A person should be allowed a few redeeming vices, but never bad manners."
NAPM’s Knowledge Center offers two free online courses especially for NAPM volunteers. New lessons have recently been added to both the Affiliate Management course and the Affiliate Support/Volunteer Management course. Helpful templates and worksheets are downloadable in many of the lessons.
C.P.M. and A.P.P. News
In 1996, NAPM announced the Age of Modules rule: "Effective January 1, 2001, modules must have been passed within five years of the postmarked date of the candidate’s application for the C.P.M. or A.P.P." Most candidates are aware of the five-year requirement. However, there is an exception to the Age of Modules rule that some candidates may not be aware of: the exception is Module 4 of the former C.P.M. Exam. The Module 4 Exception to the Age of Modules Rule was announced in September 1999. The Module 4 Exception states the following: "As of January 1, 2002, only Module 4 of the updated exam may be used toward C.P.M. certification."
