The Affiliate Support Council was established for three primary reasons: (1) to ensure that the affiliate perspective is heard, (2) to provide opportunities for affiliate leaders to address issues important to affiliates, and (3) to strengthen the link between affiliates and the national organization. This issue of NewsLine features the final three bios of Affiliate Support Council members so that you will know who they are.
Spread the Word - Sharing the Value of Supply Management
ISM's Principles of Social Responsibility is an ongoing initiative that provides both vision and a framework for supply professionals. The seven principles were presented for the first time at the 89th Annual International Supply Management Conference in Philadelphia. The initiative was also discussed at all three Summer Leadership Training Workshops. Principles of Social Responsibility booklets were distributed at each of these events and attendees were encouraged to visit ISM's Web site for additional information.
ISM Affiliate Support is in the process of revising the Volunteer Management Online Courseware Packets. Affiliate Support has developed an extensive library of materials to help you with volunteer and affiliate management issues. Each courseware packet will include an informative guide, resources and references, easy-to-use templates, case studies, exercises and a scripted presentation. Courseware materials are designed for affiliate and Group and Forum leaders.
C.P.M. and A.P.P. News
ISM's Certification Department has recently concluded a fact-finding investigation into alleged impropriety regarding the C.P.M. Exam and a review class. There were two main issues that were alleged. The first was an allegation of impropriety consisting of failure by the proctor to follow ISM policy for proctoring individuals taking the exam. The proctor failed to maintain control of the exam materials, including the exam score sheets following the exam administration. The proctor in this situation allowed the review course instructor to take all of the exam materials from the testing site. The review instructor, who was not a C.P.M., was allegedly taking the exam at the same time that the students were taking the exam. The proctor is required to maintain control of ALL exam materials from receipt until returned to ISM according to the proctoring agreement. In this situation, that did not occur. Since the control of the exam materials was not maintained to ISM standards, ISM had no choice but to invalidate the students' exam results.
The Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) has announced a change to one of two professional designations available to eligible candidates. After February 28, 2005, ISM will no longer accept new exam registrations for the Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.) designation. Those individuals who have registered prior to March 1, 2005, will have up to one year to take their exams. If they are interested in securing A.P.P. Original/Original Lifetime accreditation, they will need to apply by February 28, 2007. Individuals already holding the A.P.P. designation may still apply for reaccreditation.
Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time. As a result, while most of the United States will set their clocks back one hour on the last Sunday of October, ISM Headquarters will remain on Mountain Standard Time, as it does year-round. ISM office hours are 7:30 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. MST, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. To 3:30 p.m. MST, Friday. Those of you in the Midwestern and Eastern United States will be one to two hours ahead of Arizona, while those of you on the West Coast will be one hour behind.
