Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) continues to lead supply management by developing a new professional qualification that will be relevant internationally and reflect the expanded education, skills and experience needed to be a successful supply management professional. ISM's Board of Directors recently approved the recommendation by the ISM Certification Committee that ISM develop a new professional qualification that recognizes those expanded competencies. The ISM Board directed that the program be available in 2008.
In June and July, close to 700 affiliate leaders across the country attended one of ISM's Leadership Training Workshops. The two-day conference was held in Chicago (June 3-4), Raleigh (July 22-23) and Las Vegas (July 29-30). Leadership Training Workshops enable affiliate leadership to learn what it takes to operate an affiliate as a non-profit corporation and the types of tools available to help them. Attendees also have the opportunity to share experiences with volunteers from other affiliates.
Spread the Word — Sharing the Value of Supply Management
In May 2004, the Institute for Supply Management™ launched the Principles of Social Responsibility during ISM's 89th International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit.
ISM is known for its programs and conferences, but just because the program is over doesn't mean the learning stops. Did you know that ISM archives the learning materials (Proceedings, hand-outs, PowerPoint presentations, workshop summaries and press releases) from its past conferences and programs on the ISM Web site? Currently there are seven years' worth of materials available to members, and non-members alike.
ISM's 2005 Member-Get-A-Member Campaign is in full swing, with members around the world winning limited-edition compasses, ISM padfolios, cash, and — for one lucky individual — a wireless handheld and a trip to next year's conference. Participating has never been easier either, as members can recommend membership to colleagues and then log their recruits quickly at the ISM web site.
The 6th Annual Services Group Conference is December 1-2, 2005 at the Embassy Suites Golf Resort in Paradise Valley/Scottsdale, Arizona. Registration opens August 1, 2005. For more information, visit www.ism.ws/Conferences/Services2005.cfm.
