I recently returned from one of our Summer Leadership Training Workshops (more on this later). I was asked several times if ISM was going to merge with APICS. The short answer is that we had a meeting with APICS' president-elect at our Conference in San Francisco in 2002 and discussed this. The result was that the boards of directors of both associations discussed the topic at one of their meetings and rated their interest. Basically, ISM was interested and APICS was much less interested so no further action has been taken.

NAPM—West Georgia, Inc. recently staged a successful new event: 2003 Supplier Diversity Expo. The theme of the expo was "Making Connections: Developing Meaningful Alliances for Small Minority and Women Owned Business Initiatives." Some of the activities scheduled in the all-day educational event included a welcoming ceremony by NAPM—West Georgia President K. Allen Greer; a presentation by the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC); a forum on "The Missing Link — What Can I Do?"; a keynote speaker during lunch; a buyer/seller roundtable discussion on "Do the Right Thing"; and exhibits.
