In early December, you received in the mail the 2008 Proxy for the Annual Meeting of Members of the Institute for Supply Management, Inc.™ (ISM). You are being asked to vote on the election of ISM Board members. The report of the vote and other business of the organization will be made at the Annual ISM Membership Meeting that will be held on Thursday, Janu-ary 10, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time at the headquarters of ISM at 2055 E. Centennial Circle, Tempe, Arizona.
It's not too early to mark your calendar and start planning for the 2008 Leadership Training Workshops.
As we near the debut of the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) qualification, it's important to keep in mind why ISM decided to create the CPSM. The world is changing. Over the last several decades, trade, growing market economies and the scope of medium and large multinational enterprises have broadened the profession's responsibilities.
Spread the Word — Sharing the Value of Supply Management
Sometimes media coverage comes in a variety of packages. Perhaps a business paper has featured the job promotion of one of your affiliate's board members, or one of your events has been placed in the community calendar of the local newspaper. Maybe your recent news release paid off and a local photographer came to cover your event or even write a feature story about your affiliate.
The ISM Members Only section of the Web site has an area labeled Additional Resources. Under this umbrella we have gathered links to other useful sites on the Web and other resources for you...
Upcoming ISM Seminars
Below is the list of ISM seminars for the months of January and February 2008. For seminar details, please refer to the seminar section in the ISM Educational Resource Catalog, call the ISM Customer Service Department at 800/888-6276 or 480/752-6276, extension 401, or log on to the ISM Web site (www.ism.ws) and select the Education — Seminars and Conferences link.
Workplace accidents do happen! In many organizations, providing a safe workplace for employees and maintaining a spotless safety record rank at the top of the list of socially responsible behavior.
Some of ISM's affiliates have expressed an interest in developing a membership survey, but don't know where to begin or whether it's even worth the effort because participation is typically low. That is a question only your affiliate board can answer. Developing a quality survey not only takes time and money (if you purchase Web-based survey software), it takes knowing exactly what you want to accomplish.
ISM's 93rd Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit is May 4-7, 2008 in St. Louis. Look for complete program information in December 2007.
