Defining Supply Management

Supply management has definitely emerged as a dynamic field. As professionals and corporations realized the increased value, which goes beyond traditional "purchasing," they are organizing their departments and human resources accordingly. But what does it truly mean to be delivering supply management? The March issue of Inside Supply Management® dissects the ISM definition of the term and discusses what the activity "looks like" in real-world situations. You can use this article to determine in what areas you're playing a strategic role and in what areas you need to level-up.

If you're headed to San Antonio in May for ISM's 90th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit, you won't want to miss our article, "Remember (to Visit) the Alamo." We'll give you the scoop on area attractions, the local hot spots and Texas hospitality.

The March issue of Inside Supply Management® also brings two articles that are continuing series for the magazine. Our Regional Focus series gives details on sourcing from various parts of the world. In March: "Doing Business in the Philippines." Our series on social responsibility also continues, as we take a look at corporate ethics.

Also in the March issue of Inside Supply Management®:

  • Addressing risk in your requests for proposal
  • The latest in e-auctions: expressive bidding tools
  • How to craft contracts for construction
  • And much more!
