|R. Gene Richter Awards Accepting Entries From Innovative Supply Management Departments
ISM announces its call for entries for the second annual R. Gene Richter Awards for Leadership and Innovation in Supply Management. ISM's Richter Awards are open to supply management departments of all sizes and geographic locations, both domestic and international. Entries should address big challenges for which new solutions have had wide organizational and/or supply chain impact.
ISM will accept entries through an online submission process from July 3 - September 29, 2006. Multiple entries are welcome in four award categories, including process, organization/structure, people and technology. Winners will be notified in January 2007, and award recipients will be publicly announced and honored at an awards dinner on Monday, May 7, 2007 at ISM's 92nd Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit in Las Vegas. Winners agree to present at ISM Conference sessions the Tuesday afternoon following the awards dinner.

|Developing Your C.P.M. and A.P.P. Study and Test Taking Skills
Dr. Michael A. McGinnis, C.P.M., A.P.P., Associate Professor of Business, Penn State New Kensington developed a paper to assist individuals preparing for the A.P.P. and C.P.M. Exams. An abstract for his paper follows:
Abstract: This paper is divided into four sections. The first section briefly reviews the requirements for the Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.). The second section discusses study and test taking skills that are useful for many that are preparing for the certification examinations. The third section is a discussion of how to use the C.P.M. (and A.P.P.) Diagnostic Practice Exam to prepare for the Exams. The final section provides test taking tips that many have found useful.

July 1, 2006
It's time to submit your workshop proposal for the 2007 Call For Presentations for ISM's 92nd Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit taking place May 6-9, 2007, at Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2006.
ISM invites you to submit a workshop proposal for the 2007 Conference. What better way to share your knowledge, ideas, success and insight than to present a workshop session at the premier supply management event of the year. As a speaker at the 92nd Annual International Supply Management Conference, you announce to your stakeholders that you and your organization are leaders in supply management.
ISM seeks presentations from all sectors — manufacturing, service, institutional, public — and from the perspective of small as well as large organizations.

Today's ISM Term of the Day is: SUPPLIER RATING SYSTEM.
Definition: A method used to evaluate and rate suppliers' performance which generally emphasizes quality, service, delivery, and price. Rating formulas vary depending upon the nature of the item being purchased, the quality required, and competition within the supplying industry.
A different Term of the Day is posted on the ISM Home Page (www.ism.ws) each day -- 7 days a week. The Term of the Day is taken from the Glossary of Key Supply Management Terms.
