Overview

Every supply chain is comprised of inbound and outbound product flows that must be managed and balanced. Logistics and distribution covers the outbound portion of the supply chain from the completion of a finished good to the end consumer's receipt of the product. The discussion includes key aspects of outbound logistics and distribution, current trends and opportunities to improve logistics strategy and operations.

Those interested in learning the importance of supply chain management whether or not they are in the supply chain field. This includes analysts, managers, and even directors. Particularly, this course might be of interest to purchasing managers interested in seeing how their jobs impact, and are impacted by, others in the supply chain.

  • Rationale for using outside companies or third party logistics providers to handle portions of a supply chain on behalf of a company; the process of outsourcing; types of outsourcing
  • Import and export management within a supply chain perspective
  • Reverse logistics and why it is important
