Generations in the Workplace: The Power of Four

For the first time in U.S. history there are four distinct generations in the workplace. Each generation has unique attitudes, behaviors, expectations, and motivations. Generational differences affect all aspects of talent management including recruitment strategies, managing and motivating employees, succession planning, and retention. When leveraged well, the diversity of these four generations can be quite powerful and can lead to increased creativity, problem solving, and goal achievement. Effective communication between the different generations can eliminate major confrontations and misunderstandings in the workplace, as well as with customers and suppliers.
Jennifer Anglehart has recently joined B/E Aerospace as the Manager, Learning & Development. B/E Aerospace is the world's leading provider of interior products and solutions, and the world's leading distributor of aerospace fasteners and consumables for the commercial, business jet, and military markets.
Ms. Anglehart has spent the last twelve years in the Learning and Development arena and has experience in instructional design, facilitation, coaching, learning strategy development, and management.
Prior to joining B/E Aerospace, Ms. Anglehart worked as the Manager of Learning & Development for MWV's Global Supply Chain Operations. She has also worked as a Learning & Development Consultant in several industries including oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and financial services. In 2008 & 2009, MWV was nominated for the R. Gene Richter Award based on the accomplishments and merits of their Learning and Development program.
Ms. Anglehart earned a BS in Communications and Business Administration from the State University of New York College at Brockport and has recently earned a Masters in Human Resources Management from the University of Richmond.
John serves as the editor of Inside Supply Management®, the flagship publication of the Institute for Supply Management™ and the authoritative resource for supply management executives in companies of all sectors, shapes and sizes.
John has worked in the publishing industry for more than 15 years — both in newspapers and trade publications. He began his career at ISM in 1999 as a senior writer, and was recently promoted to the role of editor. John holds his degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa.
