Main Presenter:

Thomas A. Cook is CEO and Managing Director of American River International. Tom has been involved in global business for over 30 years in an array of diverse international trades. He graduated from Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, NY, where he holds both a BS Degree in Transportation Science and a Graduate Degree in Transportation and Business Management.

His career began in the US Naval Reserve and the US and Dutch Merchant Marine, where he served as an officer in various commercial and military capacities on passenger, tug, oil, chemical, break bulk and container vessels, all over the globe. Tom has also been involved in the international insurance, manufacturing, exporting, marketing, in the trade finance arenas and in senior management and ownership positions, with an emphasis on logistics, compliance and security.

Tom has authored over 225 articles and published six books on international trade, the latest: Post 911 "Supply Chain Security", and has lectured all over the world on varied subjects involved with global trade. He is considered by many leading professionals to be top in the field of global logistics and international operations.

Tom has numerous interests in third party logistics, global trade and international business. He is on the board of many companies and organizations, such as but not limited to: American River International, FSI Global Logistics, The Trade Resource Group of Customs in Washington, DC, The Small Business Exporters Association, North American Exporters Association, World Trade Magazine, American Management Association, IOMA and The World Academy, New York District Export Council.

Tom was the recent recipient winner of the prestigious International Partnership Award, sponsored by the United States Government, The State University of New York and the World Trade Council, delivered by former President Clinton.

Panelists:

David Jacoby, president of Boston Strategies International, directs the company's consulting practice. Before founding Boston Strategies International in 1998, David consulted to manufacturers, carriers, and supply chain service providers for over a decade. He was based in Brazil, Hong Kong, and France with A.T. Kearney, where he led a benchmarking center of excellence and conducted viability studies related to acquisitions, strategic alliances, capital investments, equipment, and infrastructure. He also developed and implemented strategic sourcing engagements covering purchasing best practices, supplier selection, consortium buying, and outsourcing. Before joining A.T. Kearney, David constructed forecasting information systems for shipping companies in the Maritime and International Trade Group at Mercer Management Consulting and served as an economist for the World Bank.

David holds an MBA from The Wharton School, a Masters in International Business from the Lauder Institute, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM), Certified in Supply Chain Management (CSCP), Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM), Certified in Purchasing Management (Lifetime C.P.M.), and Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL). He is President of APICS Boston and a Past President of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' (CSCMP)'s New England Round Table. He also is a Director of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)'s Logistics and Transportation Group, a member of the International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA)'s Ptak Prize Selection Committee, a member of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) and serves as co?chair for the Northeast Supply Chain Conference 2007 (NECON). He is a Contributing Editor at The Economist Intelligence Unit, regularly contributes to thought leadership through trade journals on transportation, logistics, and procurement issues, and is a frequent speaker.

Justin Colley is a market intelligence project manager at BP, one of the world's largest integrated oil and gas companies. In this role he engages with logistics procurement staff and global business units to provide decision support analysis in the form of supply market research, supplier risk analysis, cost modeling and inflation planning. Prior to joining BP, Justin worked for Mitsui and Co. (USA) as a logistics specialist, purchasing and managing transportation operations in North America, and as an import compliance specialist. He worked for Benton Express Inc., an LTL carrier based in Atlanta, GA, as a cost analyst as well. Justin holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Logistics from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from Michigan State University.
