Panelist Biographies


Main Presenter:

Chuck Hatsis is president of Surge Consulting, a firm specializing in marketing efficiency and strategic cost management (www.surgeconsulting.com). Prior to leading Surge, he was a senior manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations Practice and has held senior executive positions at ABN AMRO, Nationwide, Bank One and Procter & Gamble.

Chuck is a market recognized expert in marketing efficiency and strategic cost management. He was the lead presenter for an Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) Satellite Seminar in 2002 on "Purchasing Services," led a two-day Value Based Management seminar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been published in Purchasing Today magazine and Ad Age, and has spoken on advertising efficiency at several Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and Sourcing Interests Group (SIG) conferences. Collectively, Chuck and his teams have saved $500M+ for eleven Fortune 100 companies.

Chuck graduated magna cum laude in Finance at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned his MBA in Strategy and Marketing at the Anderson School at UCLA. He currently resides in Wilmette, IL with his wife, Daisy, and sons, George and John.


Panelists:

Janelle Jacoby is director, Procurement Operations, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, for The Walt Disney Company, based in Burbank. In this role, she is responsible for planning, forecasting and measuring the value enabled by company-wide teams executing the sourcing process. She has managed and led several organization transformation efforts within SS&P. Janelle is a key contributor to the development of minimum control standards and risk mitigation approaches specifically as they relate to our relationships with suppliers.

In August 1992 Janelle joined the company as a senior auditor, Corporate Management Audit. Since then she has performed in roles as a project controller at Walt Disney Imagineering. As a finance manager, she was a project team member on Disney’s Full Value Procurement Initiative and as a result became part of the Strategic Sourcing Organization. Prior to joining Disney, Janelle was a senior auditor at Ernst & Young in Los Angeles. Her responsibilities included all aspects of audit work serving manufacturers and medium to large size real estate companies. Janelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and obtainer her certified public accounting license in November 1992.



Jim Nelles is a partner with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, based in Chicago. With expertise in procurement, operational strategy, supply chain management and network design/manufacturing footprint, he has worked in a variety of industry areas, including consumer packaged goods, banking/finance, consumer electronics, and industrial (steel; automotive). Prior to his current position, Jim was an associate principal in the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company. His experience also includes serving as vice president-global procurement for Pall Corporation, as a project manager for The ProAction Group, and as a procurement product manager for McMaster-Carr Supply Company. From 1991-1995, Jim served in the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer. Jim holds a B.A. degree from Northwestern University, and has a Master of Management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
