Candidates must have applicable professional level work experience to be eligible to obtain the CPSM®, CPSD™, or C.P.M. Designations.
Acceptable Work Experience for CPSM® and C.P.M. must be full-time professional (non-clerical, non-support) experience where the primary function is supply management.
Acceptable Work Experience for CPSD™ is full-time professional (non-clerical, non-support) experience where at least a component of the job is supply management or supplier diversity.
Candidates must submit one letter per employer, on original letterhead, from a supervisor or human resources department, verifying and describing all job titles and dates (month and year for both start and end date of each job) of employment being claimed. ISM's policies regarding work experience do not allow for candidates to self-validate work experience. We do not accept resumes or business cards as proof of job titles or responsibilities.
ISM will evaluate work experience for candidates who are unsure if their current or previous positions are considered applicable. The evaluation is optional and there is a US$25.00 charge.
The experience evaluation process allows a candidate to submit the work experience documentation prior to taking any exams. ISM will return an evaluation to the candidate indicating if the experience is acceptable. Candidates should submit the evaluation with their original certification application after they have passed the exams. The evaluation will take the place of the work experience letters required during the application process.
