Question RFP for Corporate Cafeteria

My company is interesting in building a new corporate cafeteria. We are working with an architect and they will be doing the design and construction. I would like to benchmark with other companies that have done this in the past that can share their experience, (good and bad). I would like to also see sample RFP, a list of service providers and how you made your final decision.

This facility will service approximately 480 employees (corporate office staff, engineering, and manufacturing).

Thanks,

Hi. I am in the midst of an award cycle for a cafe on our property - ours is not for employees, it will be open to the public. However, in my research I gathered several samples that might be a good fit as one is for City Hall and one for UNLV college dining room - I can share those with you and you can see ours as well. I also have lists of some good possible proponents for you.

I'd recommend getting the food service provider involved in the design process. The architect may be great at their job and be able to make something look good but it might not be efficient. Getting the food service provider involved early on should help to eliminate this.

I'm not privvy to all the details (RFP/Vendors) for when we put a cafe in but did hear the scuttlebutt about a major problem. The designer thought they new everything and ignored input from the food service provider. The result was a cafe that patrons can get in to but they can't get out of...it does look really nice though...

I'd also check with the food service provider to see if they offer any "free" design services. This could help minimize some of your design expense. The provider is the ones that has to live with the design so they have a vested interest.

Good Luck

Hello Ritta,

I have a lot of experience sourcing construction materials for Bars and Cafeterias, specially wall and floor tile as well as counter tops. If you want put me in contact with the Architect or Contractor doing the work. If you have selected product already I can help you control the cost of those items.
