Here in our lab supplies sourcing, we are looking for more opportunities for savings. We currently buy through distributors and from a large pool of vendors. At what size does a company typically start moving away from distributors to purchasing directly through manufacturers? I have found one problem to be that many manufacturers of lab supplies only offer sales through a distributor or do not want to hurt their relationships with distributors by going direct.
