I only want to spend a couple per week on this certification. Does it make sense that each exam should only need my focus for a couple months and complete in a year tops.

I would recommend taking the tests individually as it is a whole lot of material to memorize. Try to finish each test as close to the other as possible so that you do not forget the material. A year is too long, try finishing it quicker.

I spent about 8 weeks on each section and that worked out great for me.

I have a related question, as I just started studying.
Would it be accurate to say that the study material required for each exam are as follows:
Exam 1: Professional Series Book 1 + Study Guide Exam 1
Exam 2: Professional Series Book 2 + Study Guide Exam 2
Exam 3: Professional Series Book 3 + Study Guide Exam 3
I have all these books, and the workbook for exam 1, just wanting to make sure I don't need to read the entire professional series in order to pass Exam 1.
I will also take the diagnostic tool to prepare for each exam as well.
Much appreciated if anyone could confirm the above is a good approach.

Personally I set a 3 month goal to study and pass all 3 exams. As soon as I passed my first exam I immediately began studying for the next exam. Keeping up this pace made sure that I knew how to study and be in the right mindset to take the test. If you allow too much time between exams you risk losing your exam taking edge. A good 2-3 weeks of concentrated studying for each exam was what worked well for me. Good luck!
