Richard Spoor, CPSM, MCIPS, is based in Leverkusen, Germany, and is senior vice president of global procurement for Bayer HealthCare AG, a position he has held since June 2011. In his role, he is responsible for a global team of 400 people and a spend of €6.2 billion. Spoor also chairs the Group Procurement Committee, responsible for Bayer's procurement community.
From 2005 to 2011, he was senior vice president, global procurement for Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States. From 1997 to 2003, he worked at QP Group in both the United Kingdom and the United States. From 2003 to 2005, he was regional director, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operational resource sourcing with Nokia Corporation.
Spoor started his career in sourcing at GE Lighting Europe. He holds a bachelor of science (BSc) degree (with honors) in industrial management, and is MCIPS certified from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
