TEMPE, Ariz. — The Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) is accepting applications for the R. Gene Richter Awards for Leadership and Innovation in Supply Management. Organizations of all sizes and geographic locations, domestic and international, are invited to apply free of charge. The first annual awards program, by ISM, will recognize innovative supply organizations that, through strong leadership, demonstrate critical and strategic contributions to business success.
"During his career, Gene helped elevate the profession to world-class stature," says ISM Chief Executive Officer Paul Novak, C.P.M., A.P.P. "These unique awards capture the spirit of this visionary leader."
ISM is accepting entries to the awards competition through an online submission process. Multiple entries are welcome via the ISM Web site at www.ism.ws/richterawards/. Judges will review entries in four primary categories: Process, Technology, People and Organization/Structure. Awards will be granted to projects that address big challenges for which new solutions have had wide organizational and/or supply chain impact. Top award contenders must show truly innovative solutions, and entries must be supported by rigorous data on real-world performance. The deadline for entries for the 2006 awards is September 20, 2005. Projects submitted for consideration under one or more categories must have been completed and/or implemented within the 12-month period prior to the submission date.
Award recipients will be publicly announced and honored on Monday, May 8, 2006 during ISM's 91st Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit in Minneapolis. Corporate supporters for the 2006 awards include ADR International, Ariba, Inc. and Eclaro International. Applicants need to agree that, if selected, they will make two presentations at Conference sessions the Tuesday afternoon following the Monday Awards Dinner.
