(Tempe, AZ) — The Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) is proud to announce that Anthony Nieves, C.P.M., CFPM, senior vice president of purchasing and supply for Hilton Hotels Corporation, has been elected as chair of ISM's Board of Directors during ISM's 88th Annual International Supply Management Conference in Nashville.
"It is truly an honor and a privilege to be appointed the chair of the ISM Board of Directors. The ISM Board is comprised of individuals who epitomize true professionalism across many industry sectors. Each brings the necessary business acumen to strategically lead our organization to new heights, and I look forward to working with each of them in achieving success," explains Nieves.
The role of supply management in all industries is rapidly changing. In many organizations today, supply management has taken on a more strategic role, adding value that goes beyond traditional cost reduction by going across organizational boundaries to meet the needs of the end customer. Due to these changing views, supply management impacts much more than just the bottom line, and can have significant influence on other functions such as human resources, sales, marketing, and legal.
The ISM Board is dedicated to ensuring the long-term viability of ISM and continuing to progressively add value for its constituents and the profession. Nieves continues, "The focus of the Board will be to ensure that ISM not only continues to grow with the ever-changing business environment, but to be the leader in supply management professional development and value creation across all economic sectors. As ISM continues to evolve, people and disciplines outside the supply management arena will turn to ISM as the ultimate authority on supply management issues."
Nieves will serve a two-year term and is responsible for the integrity of the Board process. He will preside over the ISM Board of Directors and the ISM Executive Committee. "As I look to the future of ISM, I am confident the Board will continue to be committed to building leaders within our membership," concludes Nieves. "Each and every one of us, whether we're just beginning our careers or transitioning to the next step, can and will learn from each other as we move forward together."
