(Tempe, AZ) — The Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) continues to mainstream educational opportunities in the supply management profession by offering satellite seminars on current topics that directly impact the supply management profession. Through these seminars, supply managers experience interactive programs and learning directly, no matter where they are. Participants relay questions to expert speakers and panelists in live discussion sessions via telephone, fax, or e-mail.

The next satellite seminar, Services Purchasing: Making the Right Decisions, will be June 13, 2002. Over the past several years supply management departments have increasingly moved from strictly procuring goods to the task associated with procuring services. This four-hour program looks at how to select service providers, draft a contract for services, write a statement of work, and manage the service agreement. Led by Chuck Hatsis, principal for Charter Consulting, the panel of supply management professionals will discuss the procurement of services such as consulting, leasing, utilities, travel, construction, temporary workers, and information technology services.

By participating in ISM satellite seminars participants take an active role in their professional development while increasing their value within their organization, while promoting the importance of the supply management profession.
