ISM Services Group Receives Excellence Award

(Tempe, Ariz.) May 16, 2011 — Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) today honored its Services Group as 2010 Group or Forum of the Year. ISM officially recognized Group and Forum excellence at a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast during its 96th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit in Orlando, Florida.

ISM Services Group Chair Fred Ledbetter, C.P.M., attributes the success of this group to a dedicated team of professionals that serve on the group's Leadership Council. Ledbetter remarks, "Every year is a challenge when you are a volunteer organization, and success would not happen without the tireless efforts of this exceptionally talented group."

This is the second time that the ISM Services Group has achieved this honor. The first time was in 2004, the inaugural year of the Group and Forum Excellence Award. Every year since 2004, the ISM Services Group has achieved the Level of Excellence. "These results do not happen without having a strong leadership team, a commitment from ISM, and a supportive and responsive membership base," Ledbetter adds.

ISM Groups and Forums Excellence Awards recognize those Groups and Forums that demonstrate excellence in their professional operations, educational offerings, recruitment, training and retention efforts, while at the same time communicating the value and prestige of ISM and the supply management profession. Two Groups or Forums met the level of excellence for 2010. They are:

Organized by procurement professionals during the ISM International Conference in 2000, the Services Group was formed to champion best practices and networking opportunities associated with supply management practitioners who source services (such as temporary labor, consultants, building services, telecom, technology needs, etc.) or who work in one of the many service-related industries. The importance of this group is evidenced by the fact that the service sector is the fastest growing economic sector, not only in the United States, but in the world economy as well. The Services Group works with its nearly 2,000 members to develop a dynamic annual Services Conference that features some of the industry's leading speakers, who present on a wide array of current topics. The ISM Services Group's mission is: To lead services procurement in alignment with ISM.
