(Tempe, Ariz.) December 19, 2008 — The 500th Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM®), has been named. Kristin Cairns, CPSM, is the 500th professional to earn the latest professional credential to hit the field of supply management. The CPSM® was launched by the Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) in May 2008.
Cairns is an Associate Director within Pfizer's Worldwide Procurement organization. She works under the Development Medical team where she supports Safety & Risk Management and Worldwide Regulatory Affairs. Cairns also has held various positions at General Motors and Parke-Davis.
After receiving both her bachelor's degree and master's degree from Eastern Michigan University, Cairns heard of the CPSM® credential and made it one of her career goals.
"Professionals in supply management who take the CPSM® Exam will learn new material, or refresh their skills in many areas that may help them to make better decisions regarding their organization's supply chain," said Cairns. "It takes commitment to take advantage of this new certification process, but it is well worth it."
The CPSM® represents the highest degree of professional competencies, containing the most comprehensive body of knowledge, and is designed to lead the profession by emphasizing the main components of supply management.
Individuals who obtain the CPSM® distinction will have an advanced-level of broad-based skills to make better decisions regarding their organization's supply network, including how to take full advantage of opportunities around the world.
