ISM Relationships

ISM is a strategic partner of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council, a non-profit modeled on the US Green Building Council that helps organizations optimize their purchasing for maximum benefit to themselves, society and the planet. A group of leaders from government, industry, academia, standards organizations and NGOs convened the Council to solve the biggest obstacle keeping organizations from directing their spending towards sustainable products: a lack of standardization in how sustainable purchasing is defined, guided, measured and rewarded. One of the ways the Council intends to meet that need is through the creation of a LEED-like rating system for sustainability in institutional procurement.
