JPMorgan Global PMI: Global Report on Services - February 5, 2014

Service Sector Growth Ticks Higher at Start of 2014

Global services business activity expanded for the sixteenth successive month in January. At 53.8, up from 53.5 in December, the J.P.Morgan Global Services Business Activity Index — a composite index produced by J.P.Morgan and Markit in association with ISM and IFPSM — posted a reading close to last September's two-and-a-half year high.

The back history of the global services PMI indicators have been revised due to the implementation of updated national weights applied to data points from January 2010 onwards. Of the surveys usually available for inclusion at the time of latest publication, January 2014 data for China services and Hong Kong were not available to include in the global readings due to delayed release dates for these surveys.
