LONG-HAUL CARRIER
A carrier that moves cargo over long distances. The term "long distance" is defined by geography, congestion, hours of service issues and custom of the trade. For instance, in railroads, a long haul on the West Coast is considered 1,000 miles or more and East Coast railroads consider more than 750 miles to be a long haul.
